Ana's first week here

I've always had a good oppinion about volunteeres and about volunteering in general. Now being an EVS volunteer, I've gotten in the shoes of the people I admire and I've seen what goes on on the other side. In Smolensk both adults and children share warmth and enthusiasm to get to know a new culture, just like me. Here I feel appreciated for what I do. When you see that children tend to come and talk to you, you realise there is a conection forming, that for them you are more than a volunteer, that you're becoming their friend. At Sogbu Vishenky Center, I've met children eager to work with us, open to new things and beautiful just as they are. The challenge of working with them brings out a new side of me. I am quite impressed by the tidiness of their room and the relationships between them and their educators. Our mentor here is the connector between us and the kids and teachers. She's also the one that can solve any issue. I feel like this summer will be just as expected!
